Topic: Global, National, & Regional Matters - National Freedom Day“The purpose of this holiday is to promote good feelings, harmony, and equal opportunity among all citizens and to remember that the United States is a nation dedicated to the ideal of freedom.”* Major Richard Robert Wright Sr. (Philadelphia, PA), a former slave, fought to have a day when freedom for all Americans is celebrated. February 1st, the date that Pres. Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery in 1865 seemed fitting and National Freedom Day was signed into law by Pres. Harry S. Truman in 1948. Please join me in sending Angels on a Mission to...1. Cause us to give thanks for the freedoms that we enjoy. 2. Inspire us to extend and expand the cloak of freedom to ALL people in our nation and around the globe. Read more: www.americaslibrary.gov/es/pa/es_pa_free_1.html
